Before going for the chase, huntsmen usually prepare all their hunting gear beforehand. The basic hunting gear that comes to mind would be the tent and the sleeping bag to take a rest in, hunting clothes which are usually camouflaged to disguise you well in the woods, food and water to keep one nourished and hydrated and of course, hunting arrows and pistols to gun down and capture those prized catch. But aside from these indispensable paraphernalia, there are also available hunting accessories that make the thrill and chase of a hunt more convenient and expedient. * Hunting bags and backpacks. You only have two hands and you cannot simply hand carry all those hunting gear. Hunting backpacks need to hold those bottles of water, cans of food, extra clothes and other devices like a map, a compass and perhaps some extra ammo. Most hunters prefer backpacks that have lots of space and have several pockets and compartment to accommodate all their hunting stuff in. * Holsters and belts. When hunting, pistols and firearms should be within easy reach as targets may jump right out of a corner. Choose a holster that is comfortable and tight enough to hold your pistol in place. If it is too loose, you might get into a shooting accident and too tight could take you some time for getting your pistol out. If you are not quick enough, you might be missing on one good catch for the day. * Ammo cases and holders. Bullets and ammo are things that are not to be taken lightly. They are dangerous if in the wrong and careless hands. To hold your ammo and bullets safely, you would need ammo holders and cases that were designed and purposely made to contain them and keep you out of harm's way. Make sure that your cases or holders can be sealed and secured tightly. * Slings. Typical scenario when you go hunting is that you lug with you a big backpack with all your gear and a sleeping bag and tent to boot. Plus you also need to carry a firearm. The more hiking and trekking you do, the more weary your arms and hands would be carrying a heavy duty firearm for hunting. So for more convenience and comfort, think of getting a good sling so you can simply slip that firearm in and fling it over your shoulder. * Hearing protection. You will be doing a lot of shooting when you go hunting and that means you will be hearing a lot of shots too. These gun shots could hurt and impair your hearing especially when the shots come in quick successions and when you are so near to perceive those earsplitting shrill shots. To protect your sense of hearing, you must be able to get yourself good protection for your ears. There are earplugs and ear muffs that are specifically designed for hunting activities. In choosing, opt for the ones which you are most comfortable with. You would not want those plugs to distract you while you are making that shot. |
